The Nailers recent run of impressive form has seen them rise up to third in the league prior to kick off, with a staggering 10 wins in their past 11 league outings. In contrast, the visitors were in 16th place, only three points away from the relegation zone.

Belper started the stronger of the two sides and were extremely unfortunate not to find themselves one up in the 4th minute. Craig Nelthorpe produced a wonderful dinked ball to the back post where an unmarked Tom Wilson volleyed his shot against the post.

The Royals’ closest chance of the first half came from Isai Marsella. He produced a wonderful free kick which had Ollie Battersby rooted to the spot but thankfully for the Grimsby Town loanee, the shot missed the top right corner by a matter of inches.

Danny South was unfortunate not to find himself on the score sheet in the first half, with the skipper having two attempts cleared off the line.
The closest the Nailers came to breaking the deadlock in the first half was in the 42nd minute after some great interchange on the left wing allowed Ben Rhodes to produce a low cross into the box. South beat a man before shooting, but a Sutton defender was poised and ready to clear his shot off the line.

In the 49th minute the deadlock was broken.

Nathan Curtis produced some great footwork on the right wing before crossing the ball to South who was unfortunate to see his bicycle kick cannon out against the post, thankfully Ben Rhodes burst into the box unmarked and fired the ball home from close range to make it 1-0.

Things got even better from the Nailers in the 57th minute when substitute, Karl Demidh produced a teasing free kick in from the right wing to the back post, where Rhodes diverted the ball towards goal and Tom Wilson was on hand to head the ball into the back of the net from point-blank range.

Without doubt, the goal of the night was scored by Danny South in the 80th minute.

A beautiful one-touch move resulted in Prince Mancinelli chipping the ball up to the skipper on the edge of the box. Without hesitation, the striker volleyed the ball first time into the bottom left corner leaving Lewis Gwilliams with no chance.

Due to star striker Jonathon Margetts limping off in the Nailers previous home win the side were forced to try and find a suitable replacement and Karl Demidh was signed as his replacement.

Demidh came on at half time and completely changed the game - he was creative and looked dangerous in front of goal too.

In the 90th minute Brodie Litchfield embarked on a magnificent solo run taking on four defenders before being dragged down inside the penalty area resulting in a spot kick.

Demidh stepped up and calmly sent the keeper the wrong way rolling his shot into the bottom right corner to round off a perfect debut.

This win means Belper have won an impressive 11 out their last 12 league games and they now sit in second place in the league one point behind leaders Ilkeston Town.
