The Nailers came into this fixture in fine form having won eight of their last nine games in the league. In complete contrast Shepshed were winless since September, so the form guide all but pointed to a home win.

The form guide was spot on as Belper found themselves 1-0 up in the 13th minute of game.

A fine Prince Mancinelli ball found Jonathan Margetts unmarked on the right wing, the forward blasted what seemed to be a miss hit shot to the back post where Ben Rhodes came in unmarked to tap the ball underneath the out rushing goalkeeper.

The Nailers thought they were two up soon afterwards. Craig Nelthorpe produced a wicked curled free kick from the right which Brandon Ganley was unable to hold onto; Nathan Curtis calmly tucked the ball home from two yards out only for the offside flag to be raised.

Out of nowhere in the 22nd minute the Dynamos were level. A long lofted ball found Matt Melbourne just inside the Belper box, the striker quickly turned and rolled the ball across goal where Jack Rogers tapped the ball home and gave the visitors an equaliser against the run of play.

Rhodes looked dangerous all afternoon and was inches away from getting his second goal of the season on the half hour mark.

A great passing move resulted in Josh Woodcock producing a fine cross which was only cleared as far as the Belper Town left back, who powerfully volleyed the ball just wide of the goal.

After an unconvincing first half performance Belper burst into life in the second half scoring barely two minutes after the restart.

A deflected Brodie Litchfield free kick seemed to strike Riece Bertram on its way into the back of the net which put the Nailers 2-1 up.

Bertram nearly doubled his goal tally for the afternoon when Litchfield chipped a corner to the back post, where an unmarked Bertram cleverly flicked the ball with the outside of his boot towards the top corner. Ganley made a magnificent save as he clawed the ball away in an acrobatic fashion.

In the 61st minute things got even better for Belper after Nathan Curtis went on a superb solo run taking on two defenders leaving him with only the keeper to beat; he also rounded Ganley who pulled the winger back resulting in a penalty.

Craig Nelthorpe stepped up and smashed the ball into the top right corner making it 3-1.

Shepshed made several changes in the hope of getting back into the game. And it seemed to work with substitute Reece Morris coming closest to getting the away side back into the contest.

Fellow substitute Liam Canavan produced a devastating through ball to the left wing which found Morris who curled his shot just wide of Ollie Battersby’s goal.

Litchfield worked himself into the ground all afternoon relentlessly pressing and giving the opposition defenders zero rest.

The forward definitely deserved a goal but unfortunately the woodwork denied him in the 84th minute. Danny South produced a perfect pass to play Litchfield through on goal only for his low shot to clip the outside of the near post.

The three points were secured in the 90th minute after a poor back pass from John King played Danny South in on goal, the skipper slid in to tap the ball past the advancing Ganley to make it 4-1 and to hand the Nailers a ninth victory in ten games.
