It was another incredible effort coming only 48 hours after a lung-bursting performance against Halesowen, and somehow they summoned the strength to overcome Loughborough who were determined not make things easy for them.

Sam Muggleton came in for the injured Josh Woodward and Riece Bertram was once again pressed into service as Alex Peterson made a cautious return to the squad but only as a substitute.

Belper needed to win, Loughborough knew that, and did everything in their power to prevent it happening, and consequently the contest was played at a fast and furious pace.

The Nailers enjoyed the best of the early exchanges with Kyle Dixon shooting straight at the ‘keeper from a Brodie Litchfield cross and Derry Robson heading over from a Sam Muggleton long throw,

Litchfield set pulses racing with a shot that cannoned off the upright in the 24th minute, and soon afterwards Dixon’s 20 yard free kick also hit the woodwork.

With Belper making all the running Tom Wilson’s powerful downwards header was touched over the crossbar by Jason Alexander, and from another long throw Danny South’s header looped over the crossbar.

After early pressure in the second half in which Dynamo ‘keeper Alexander had complete domination in the air, the hosts won a penalty kick in the 58th minute.

Kevin Da Silva Bastos, a live wire from Dynamo all afternoon converted the spot-kick with Lewis Gwilliams almost reaching it.

Dynamo came to life after this and Gwilliams had to be alert to deal with Michael Jacklin’s header in the 63rd minute, and David Brown made a decisive interception when the hosts broke away on 70 minutes.

The Nailers were fortunate to see Da Silva Bastos shoot wide minutes later, but with the game entering the final stages, Belper stepped up the pace.

The equaliser came in the 74th minute after 3 or 4 consecutive efforts on goal were blocked on, or close to the goal line and it was Tom Wilson who rammed the ball home much to the jubilation of the Belper fans and players.

DaSilva Bastos nearly regained Dynamos lead on 82 minutes with Gwilliams coming to Belper’s rescue, but as Belper turned up the heat, substitute Reon Benjamin-Potts forced a good save with an angled drive on 84 minutes.

However the Belper loanee had the final say in the 89th minute when his fierce volley was partially stopped by Alexander, but the momentum and spin on the ball helped it into the net.

Joyous scenes erupted and once the Nailers had expertly negotiated over 6 minutes added on time then the real celebrations began.

There is still work to be done when Corby visit the Raygar on Saturday, but a win will secure a play-off place whatever Carlton achieves at Stamford.
