Jordan Haywood signs on a short-term loan

The 18-year-old has made one substitute appearance for Basford United this season and signed his first senior contract at the club earlier this month.

Grant has said that he seen me play, likes what I offer and I’m looking forward to working with him. I’ve heard Belper are a great side that always try to do things right at a very competitive Step 4 level

He made his debut for the Nailers in their 5-0 victory against Bedworth United at home on Saturday and was also involved in the 3-0 away win at Spalding United on Tuesday evening.

Jordan said: “I feel like this is another step up from where I’ve been previously and I’m really excited to get playing at this level to work hard and learn even more.

“Grant has said that he seen me play, likes what I offer and I’m looking forward to working with him. I’ve heard Belper are a great side that always try to do things right at a very competitive Step 4 level.

“Basford manager, Steve Chettle told me that it’s a good level to be playing at and that they wanted me to join.

“In the last six months, I’ve played a lot of senior football and I want to continue to learn about playing in that environment. I’ve already learnt a lot and I can only learn more playing week in, week out if I work hard to get the shirt.”

Chettle added: “Jordan has been doing fantastically well and fully deserving of his first deal but it’s now really important that he is playing at the highest standard of senior football at this point.

“Belper Town came to watch him during the Youth Cup win against Halesowen and asked him to go in and train, before going on loan for a month.

Grant Black added “We are really excited to get Jordan in. We’ve watched him a few times and looked to get him on loan before and we’d like to thank Steve Chettle and Kevin Wilson in getting this over the line.

“He’s a player we feel has massive potential in the game and can help kick on and improve by getting him first team experience.

“He trained with us in the week and fitted straight into our environment and looked really sharp.

“With the ability to play anywhere on the left and in a back three, the move gives us lots of options and we can’t wait to get him going.”
