Born in Chesterfield and a product of the Sheffield United youth system, Diego joined the Nailers at the end of 2025.A natural goalscorer, he attracted the attention of both Manchester United and City early in his career but a serious injury sustained on Italy U18s duty set him back by nearly a year.
After various loan moves, he joined Macclesfield in 2017 before a lengthy spell at Buxton and a shorter one at Matlock.
