The incident brought to an end a thrilling game of football but the referee had no choice with player welfare on his mind and the dreadful weather adding to the problems.
Belper took the lead on eight minutes when Gee Bestwick's left wing cross created confusion in the Notts penalty area. They couldn't clear and Evie Jowett was on hand to finish.
Jowett doubled her and Belper's tally in the 12th minute when she won a challenge inside the penalty area and prodded the ball past Pearson.
The comeback started six minutes later, Sia Kariolis was played in and finished after Maggie Buxton couldn't quite gather the ball.
On 22 minutes a great through ball picked out Emily McArdle and she carried on what was becoming a lesson in finishing from both sides.
Only a further two minutes had passed when the Magpies took the lead. Buxton was unable to keep hold of a long free kick and Kariolis slotted home.
Belper levelled after 33 minutes, Bestwick scoring after Alice Faudling saw her header saved from a Jowett cross.
Four minutes into the second half, Jess Smithurst won possession before firing in a shot from range which was saved by Pearson.
The Nailers went 4-3 ahead on 52 minutes, Phallon Symcox with a great ball to Jowett who crossed and Smithurst found the back of the net at the second attempt.
Three minutes later it was all square again as Lottie Smith rifled home a volley from a corner on the right.
Smithurst put Belper ahead by the odd goal in nine when she scored after Jowett's cross, this itself following a great Faulding pass.
In the 65th minute Mia Carnelley's long ball found Faulding who tried her luck, but the shot was blocked and then Sammy Bennett brought a great save out of Pearson.
The final goal of the match went to Jowett, she took on an early shot after Faulding's through ball, one of the goals of the afternoon to make it 6-4.
Unfortunately this was to be the last action of the match as Sammy Bennett went down following a challenge in the 68th minute. There was immediate concern for the Belper midfielder who had suffered knee and shoulder injuries and due to the seriousness of them, there was no way the game could continue, referee Mark Hilton eventually blowing the whistle in what would have been the 83rd minute of the match.
Everyone at Belper Town wishes Sammy the very best for a speedy recovery.
