CN: Lee, we just mentioned the word off air before I started the camera rolling. Stressful. I think we both agreed that that was how we found this, particularly that last 15-20 minutes, but sum up your emotions after getting that win.
LA: Well, we needed it, especially at home. You know, we've been due one. And when you draw your away games and then you win your home games, it makes those away points good ones.
We had to win today. And like I say, hard-fought that. That was what I'd say.
Hard-fought game. They were direct. We were quite direct today.
Went with the two big lads. They've got the big lad up front as well. Lots of long throw-ins.
And it was a bit of a war of attrition. A million and one things we can do better. I mean, our ball and game management second half was pretty abysmal.
Sloppy passes again in possession. Like, we weren't very good, were we? But we got the three points. And then, like I always say, if people go home happy, don't they? We've played a lot better than that and lost.
But yes, we just needed the three and by hook or by crook we got there in the end.
CN: As Louis Keenan just pointed out in the corridor there, three games unbeaten now, which seems a strange thing to say with what kind of table it looks. But now we've got a midweek game and then St Ives next week. So, quick chance to build on things.
LA: Yes, the table I'm not too concerned about at the minute. Because it's very, very tight.
I think something like five points separating fifth and 16th. It's real tight. You know, put two or three wins on the board and you're going to be bang up around it.
Hopefully start it today. You know, go again Tuesday at home. Try and get another three points in it.
Yes, make it look a bit healthier. I mean, we all know we've not had the start we wanted. Like I say, I think we've played well in spells, but we've just not been clinical enough.
And then today, you know, Ty gets his first chance and scores. I think he probably should have had a hat trick first half. You know, the one that he's chipped the keeper.
I think any other keeper in the league, he goes over, but he's about six foot twelve, isn't he?
So, he's saved that one and I think he's gone through again. We've missed that one. The one that we've blazed over.
So, yes, plenty of chances again, especially first half. Don't think it was a great second half.
Certainly, wasn't vintage, but it's about getting the job done and over the line.
I could feel the nerves in the players. Like, you know, we were desperate to keep hold of the ball, and we just couldn't do it. We just couldn't keep hold of it.
We kept giving it away, kept putting it out of play. Just really poor on the ball. But I think that was the nerves of almost like desperation to get over the line.
And a few hairy moments right then where they're just slinging throw-ins into deep areas.
But yes, battled well, got there in the end.
CN: With seventeen to eighteen players to transfer into sixteen places today, and fortunately, the injury situation is looking quite a lot better. You must be happy with how the squad's looking with the goal threat up front now?
LA: Yeah, I've not mentioned him yet, but I thought Jez was superb today, especially first half. Everything went up there. He won, nice little flicks, linked up play.
He'll get fitter as well. Same as Ty, you know, 60 minutes in, probably 70 minutes in, he started to look tired. Getting up to speed and getting firing were going to cause problems because when you've got two big lads up there, it just gives you licence just to put it forward.
It's not always pretty, but we've played some pretty football and not won games. I'd take that all day. So yes, we're just a bit relieved.
It's strange because I don't feel like we've won. I feel a bit like, you know, we need to go and do it Tuesday now. I don't feel like the job's done now.
We've got to back it up and that's what it's all about. If we can get back-to-back wins, that builds confidence and then you go again.
