LA: Yes, what else can you say? Yes, bang on. I mean, how do we not win that game? We've all had chances second half, complete one-way traffic, got a stiff neck looking to my right, just attack after attack after attack and we hit the post.
(Their) ‘keeper’s made two point-blank saves, there's one where Ty's crashed it and then it's fell to Evo and somehow we've not poked it in. And then we broke through twice, I think Danny Gordon had one where he's broke clean through and then missed the target and yes, I just don't know how we've not won that game.
And very similar to the Coventry game earlier in the season where we had probably a similar amount of chances and not just half chances, we're talking like full-blown good chances there. And again, just not clinical enough, not ruthless enough, but the performance again was good and that's been the frustrating thing all year.
It's another point in the right direction, but we've obviously, you know, if you get a point when you feel like you've been the poorer side, it's a good point, but our last three draws, Coleshill, Long Eaton and then that one there, we feel we should have had nine points, you know, we feel like we should have won them all.
So yes, we are frustrated. Obviously, you go away as a manager and you reflect on what you could have done differently, shape, style, personnel, but when you create that many chances and you think there's much more we can do other than just hope that at some point we start to rattle them in.
Because like you say, loads of good stuff in there tonight and on another night, you know, we win it comfortably. The flip side of it, and I've said this to the players, it's a lesson in why we've got to stop conceding crap goals, because we've done it again tonight where, first of all, I think Evo should go back to KP puts out for a throw-in, they sling the throw-in in, it drops out to us in the box, rather than hooking it, we take two touches and we get it nicked off us.
Then we jump out of a tackle and into the box and they put it between one of our defenders' legs. And it's just, yes, it's frustrating because you're not doing loads wrong, yet we're still not managing to put a run together. We're obviously four unbeaten, which is the positive, but obviously draws aren't good enough when you draw three out of four.
CN: You mentioned it there and you mentioned it on Saturday, three unbeaten, now four ubeaten, and a win still on Saturday, it's in our shoots us up the table, so still nothing to be concerned about.
LA: No, no, not at all. Like you say, if we win that game tonight, I think we're one or two points off the playoff positions.
And as I think I said on Saturday, I'm not worried about the table because two or three back-to-back wins will put you bang in there. This league has gone up a notch this year, there's no doubt, Chris.
The league's improved, every side's got better, we've not come up against anybody who's poor, every game's been tight, nip and tuck, where we feel like we could have won it, but equally you see Grantham's breakaway at the end.
If Jordan don't foul him, they may win it, and that's been every single game. Bedworth's the same Saturday, we've nicked it, but on another day, you might lose it. No-one's rapped four or five past us, we've been in every game, and we feel like we're so, so close.
Obviously, I think we look a different proposition with Ty in the building, I think we're not a real threat going forward now. Jez has done really well again, by a strange turn of events we should have had Draper back as well, which we didn't expect.
Moving forward, we're looking healthier, but I think these last three draws and a win, you'd be happy with that if we'd have had a better start, that's the thing.
We're still trying to claw back the damage we've done to ourselves early on. I've got to take it in perspective that we've not lost a game, we've played really well, let's take the positives from it.
Again, if we go and win Saturday, it makes seven points in a week look pretty good.
CN: We'll finish there, you just mentioned it a second ago, but Draper looks like he's going to be back sooner than we anticipated.
LA: Until he goes again, let's see what happens.
A strange turn of events, we won't go into details, but he should be back with us. Obviously, with Jez only being initially a short-term dual reg while he's suspended in the league he's come from, that might just come at a really good time for us. We obviously know Draper, what he does, top forward, but he's certainly got goals in him.
We just need one, Grats needs one, Tav needs one, Eddie probably needs one. There's a few lads in there that I think once he gets the shooting boots on, we've got some firepower, but it's just not quite happening for us at the minute.
